Baby Food

Well...here I go, my first blog. Pardon my grammar...being a first time mom (FTM), I don't have time for all that. I think I will use my new blogspot to share my joys, accomplishments, struggles, and frustrations as a FTM. I have a beautiful 6 month old baby girl...who does not always give me the time I need to take care of her the way I thought I would be able to. I named my blog "Green Baby" because that's my goal...to provide my baby as much of a green environment as I possibly can. I say this after I just wiped my coffee table and entertainment center down with pledge *sigh&frown*. Being green is sooo hard! Where do you start? Do you go extreme and do everything green? Going green is EXPENSIVE! You would think it would be just the opposite seeing as how many more ingredients go into the non-green products. Well here is my task list in no particular order:

1) Cut way down on paper towels: maybe to one roll every 2 weeks
2) Get all green cleaning supplies: I mean everything from the kitchen sink to the floor.
3) Start using the cloth wipes you bought.....*sigh*
4) Keep reminding Dear Husband (DH) to use the cloth diapers instead of the more convenient disposable ones...if he doesn't start using them consistently in one month...take disciplinary action.
5) Buy local produce when possible.
6) Make meal plans to cut down on waste (buying a bunch of groceries and then not using them all before they expire.)
7) Turn off lights when exiting rooms.
8) Wear heavier clothes and turn down the heat.
9) Continue to make baby food instead of buying pre-made baby food.

Well that's all my exhausted mind can come up with for now. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I froze my second batch of baby food (not including the baby food I made while visiting my sister). So far Havanna has had Bananas, Sweet potatoes, and Butternut Squash. Our next trial will be apples. I find making my own baby food to be so incredibly rewarding. It's not that much work and it feels great to know exactly what is going into my baby's mouth! wholesomebabyfood.com has great information on how to make your own baby food. Check it out.

  1. yay! Going green is a pain. But I want to make sure that what I use around my kids and what I feed them won't do more harm than good. Good for you!
